2010 Tournament Details
Blind Draw Scramble s/g
Date:

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

Time:

8:00 A.M. Shotgun start

Format:

This is a 4-person scramble competition. From the list of tournament participants, teams will be formed with an A, B, C and D player respective to handicap. The division of A, B, C, and D players will depend on the number of participants. EACH player must use at least 4 tee shots. On every hole each member of the team will hit a tee shot. The team then selects one of the tee shots from which to play next. All members of the team then hit from that position. This procedure is repeated until the ball is holed out.

Ball Placement:

Fairways - the ball may be moved one club length, no closer to the hole, when in the fairway (the closely mowed grass).

Rough - the ball may be moved one club length, no closer to the hole, when in the rough if the ground is excessively soggy but not considered "casual water".

Greens - the ball may be moved one putter head width, no closer to the hole, when on the green.

Handicapping:

There will be no handicapping except for the arrangement of the teams.

Tees:

The men will play from the Blue Tees and the women from the Green Tees

Scoring:

Record GROSS scores only. Please indicate on the scorecard whose drive was used for each hole to verify the 4-drive requirement has been met. At the completion of your round please turn in your signed scorecards to the scoring table inside the grille.

Additional Information:

Prizes and Raffle: The number of players will determine the number and the amount of tournament and raffle prizes.

NCGA 4 Ball Net Qualifier

Format:

This is a two person, best ball competition that will determine the two teams to proceed to the NCGA Sectional Tournament; location to be determined.

Ball Placement:

Fairways, Rough, Bunkers, and Greens - the ball being played down; USGA rules apply

Handicapping:

Individual scoring will be by handicap applying each person's Handicap Index in relation to the course as listed with the NCGA as of February 1, 2010. Ladies handicap adjusted per Section 3-5 of the USGA/NCGA handicap system.

Tees:

The men will play from the Blue Tees and the women from the Green Tees

Scoring:

Each team shall exchange their card with the other two-player team in their group and they shall record and attest to the competitor's individual "gross" score AND the team's best score of each hole. At the completion of your round please turn in your signed scorecards to the scoring table inside the grille where all handicap reductions will be applied

Format:

This is a two-day, two-person, best ball competition that will determine two groups to go to the NCGA Regional Tournament, location to be determined. Each two-person team will play individual stroke play recording each person's individual score AND then listing the team's best score for each hole.

Ball Placement:

Fairways, Roughs, Bunkers, and Greens - the ball being played down; USGA rules apply.

Handicapping:

Individual scoring will be by handicap applying each person's Handicap Index in relation to the course as listed with the NCGA as of March 1, 2010. Ladies handicap adjusted per Section 3-5 of the USGA/NCGA handicap system.

Tees:

The men will play from the Blue Tees and the women from the Green Tees

Scoring:

Each team shall exchange their card with the other two-player team in their group and they shall record and attest to the competitor's individual "gross" score AND the team's best score of each hole. At the completion of your round please turn in your signed scorecards to the scoring table inside the grille where all handicap reductions will be applied.

Tees:

All men will play from the Blue Tees except those in the Scratch Flight who will play from the Gold Tees. All women from the Green Tees

Two Person Fun Tournament

7:30 A.M. Tee Times

Format:

This a 2-person team competition with three different playing formats as follows:
First six holes - Scramble Format - EACH player must use 3 tee shots during the six holes. On every hole each player of the team will hit a tee shot. The team then selects one of the tee shots from which to play next. Both members of the team then hit from that position. This procedure is repeated until the ball is holed out.
Second six holes - Alternate Shot Format - One player will hit the tee shot and then the second player will hit from the location that the ball came to rest. This process is continued until the ball is holed out. The person who did not hole the ball on the preceding hole will hit the tee shot for the next hole. Once the rotation is initiated it will continue through all the six holes.
Third six holes - Best Ball Format - Both players will play their individual shots until their balls are holed out. The best gross score between the two players shall be recorded for each hole.

Ball Placement:

Scramble format
- Fairways and Rough - the ball may be moved one club length no closer to the hole
- Greens - the ball may be moved one putter head width no closer to the hole
Alternate Shot/Best Ball Formats
- Fairways/Rough/Greens - the ball will be played down: USGA rules apply

Handicapping:

There will be no handicapping; gross scoring only.

Tees:

The men will play from the Blue Tees and the women from the Green Tees

WPA Open - t/t

Format:

This is an individual stroke play, flighted competition. Each person will be placed into a flight determined by dividing the total number of participants into equal flights or as close as possible. The Tournament Committee shall have final decision on the flight divisions. The lowest GROSS score will determine the first flight winner, as this flight will not be handicapped. The lowest NET score will determine the winners of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th flights.

Ball Placement:

Fairways, Rough, Bunkers, and Greens - the ball being played down; USGA rules apply.

Handicapping:

The first flight will not be handicapped and will play at scratch. In all other flights individual scoring will be by handicap applying each person's Handicap Index in relation to the course as listed with the NCGA as of June 1, 2010. Ladies handicap adjusted per Section 3-5 of the USGA/NCGA handicap system.

Tees:

The first flight shall play from the Gold Tees. All other flights the men will play from the Blue Tees and the women from the Green Tees

Each person shall exchange their card with another person in their group and they shall record and attest to the competitor's individual "gross" score of each hole. At the completion of your round please turn in your signed scorecards to the scoring table inside the grille where all handicap reductions will be applied.

NCGA Net Amateur

Time:

7:30 A.M. Tee Times

Format:

This is a two-day, individual stroke play competition to qualify for further NCGA Sectional Tournament play, location to be determined. There will be three flights created similar to the NCGA final tournament flighting. This will be completed by placing participants into a flight determined by dividing the total number of participants into three equal flights or as close as possible.
The Tournament Committee shall have final decision on the flight divisions.
Depending on the total number of “WPA group members” between 3 and 6 participants will be selected to go forward to the next NCGA Sectional Tournament.
The lowest overall gross score for each flight will be awarded a gift certificate to the Wildhawk Pro Shop.
The number of tournament players will determine the size of each flight and amount of gift certificates awarded.

This is a Team competition playing a best ball format. Two teams will be selected from the total number of participants based on handicaps. The two teams will then play against each other in a best ball format. The team with the overall lowest score will win the tournament prize.

(See Scoring) Each person will be placed into a flight determined by dividing the total number of participants into equal flights or as close as possible. The Tournament Committee shall have final decision on the flight divisions.

Fairways, Rough, Bunkers, and Greens - the ball being played down; USGA rules apply.

Handicapping:

Individual scoring will be by handicap applying each person's Handicap Index in relation to the course as listed with the NCGA as of October 1, 2010. Ladies handicap adjusted per Section 3-5 of the USGA/NCGA handicap system.

Tees:

The men will play from the Blue Tees and the women from the Green Tees

Scoring:

Each person shall exchange their card with another person in their group and they shall record and attest to the competitor's individual "gross" score of each hole. At the completion of your round please turn in your signed scorecards to the scoring table inside the grille where the Tournament Committee will calculate all adjustments, net scores, and point totals. All points will be accumulated using your NET score. Points will be awarded as follows:

Format:

This is a two-day, individual stroke play, flighted competition. Each person will be placed into a flight determined by dividing the total number of participants into equal flights or as close as possible. The Tournament Committee shall have final decision on the flight divisions. The lowest NET score for the two-day competition will determine the winners of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th flights. The lowest two-day GROSS score will determine the Championship flight winner, as this flight will not be handicapped.

Ball Placement:

Fairways, Rough, Bunkers, and Greens - the ball being played down; USGA rules apply.

Handicapping:

The Championship flight will not be handicapped and will play at scratch. In all other flights individual scoring will be by handicap applying each person’s Handicap Index in relation to the course as listed with the NCGA as of October 1, 2010. Ladies handicap adjusted per Section 3-5 of the USGA/NCGA handicap system.

Tees:

The Championship Flight shall play from the Gold Tees. All other flights, the men shall play from the Blue Tees and the women from the Green Tees.

Scoring:

For each day’s competition, each person shall exchange their card with another person in their group and they shall record and attest to the competitor’s individual “gross” score of each hole. At the completion of your round please turn in your signed scorecards to the scoring table inside the grille where all handicap reductions will be applied.

Overall Winners:

The lowest net score for the two-day competition will determine the winners of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th flights. The lowest two-day GROSS score will determine the Championship flight winner, as this flight will not be handicapped.

Turkey Ball Scramble Tournament

Format:

This a 4-person team, two part, Turkey Ball and Scramble format competition tournament. There are no course handicaps applied to individual or team scores.

Part 1 - The "Turkey Ball"
Each team will determine a rotation to identify one person on each hole to play the "Turkey Ball". The "Turkey Ball" is a specially marked, colored golf ball that is played as "stroke play" only by the one identified person. At the end of the round of golf the "Turkey Ball" must be returned to the scorer's table

If at any time the "Turkey Ball" is lost or is hit "out-of-bounds" then the team ends its ability to finish this part of the tournament scoring. NOTE: If a team loses its "Turkey Ball" then they may continue to play the second part (Scramble format) as a three person scramble insuring that a player sits out each hole per your team's original rotation.

Part 2 - The three-person "Scramble Format"
While the one person is playing the "Turkey Ball", the other three players will play a "Scramble Format". They will hit a tee shot and then select one of the tee shots from which to play the next shot and then hit from that position. This procedure is repeated until the ball is holed out. Each player must use at least two drives in the 18 holes during the "Scramble Format" portion.

Ball Placement:

Turkey Ball - the ball being played down; USGA rules apply.
Scramble Format -

Fairways and Rough - the ball may be moved one club length, no closer to the hole.

Greens - the ball may be moved one putter head width, no closer to the hole.

Handicapping:

There are no course handicaps applied to individual or team scores.

Tees:

The men will play from the Blue Tees and the women from the Green Tees

Scoring:

There will be TWO (2) scores posted for each hole, ONE (1) for the "Turkey Ball" (Part 1) and ONE (1) for the three person Scramble (Part 2). At the completion of your round please turn in your signed scorecards with the "Turkey Ball" to the scoring table inside the grille.

Additional Information:

Every player will receive a Turkey Certificate. The number of players will determine the number and the amount of prizes.

Annual Family 18 Holes Tournament & Raffle

This is an 18 holes, individual stroke play tournament.

Ball Placement:

Fairways, Rough, Bunkers, and Greens - the ball being played down; USGA rules apply.

Handicapping:

Individual scoring will be by handicap applying each person's Handicap Index in relation to the course as listed with the NCGA as of December 1, 2010. Ladies handicap adjusted per Section 3-5 of the USGA/NCGA handicap system.

Tees:

The men will play from the Blue Tees and the women from the Green Tees

Scoring:

Each player shall exchange their card with another player in their group and record the competitor's "gross" score of each hole. At the completion of your round please turn in your signed scorecards to the scoring table inside the grille where all handicap reductions will be applied.

Additional Information:

Prizes: The number of players will determine the number and the amount of prizes.
Raffle: WPA members will receive a ticket for each event they entered during the year. Any WPA member who has played in eight or more events will receive one special raffle ticket for the Grand Prize, an "Annual Pass".
